Democrat Jon Ossoff is a Nancy Pelosi clone who betray the conservative sensibilities of Georgia’s 6th Congressional District — that’s the argument a Republican super political action committee is making in a new television ad unveiled Monday.
The spot, aired by Congressional Leadership Fund, a group aligned with Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is moving to undermine Ossoff’s message of pragmatic centrism that Republicans worry might be effective in the closely watched race to fill a vacant, suburban Atlanta House seat.
Pelosi, the House minority leader from San Francisco, “knows Jon Ossoff will be a rubber stamp for her extreme liberal agenda, and that’s the reason Bay Area liberals have contributed more to Ossoff’s campaign than people in Georgia,” CLF executive director Corry Bliss said in a statement.
Here’s the full script of the ad running as part of CLF’s $6.5 million investment in advertising to help the GOP hold this seat:
There’s a reason Bay Area liberals have contributed more to Jon Ossoff’s campaign than people in Georgia.
He’s one of us. Ossoff and Pelosi?
That’s a dream team.
San Francisco hearts Ossoff.
Higher taxes? Bigger Government? Sweet.
Ossoff and Pelosi want to weaken the military.
Not like we’re fighting a war or anything.
Nancy Pelosi and Jon Ossoff will get it done.
Georgia, make San Francisco proud.
Send Jon Ossoff to Congress.
The runoff to to fill the 6th District is shaping up to be the most expensive race of its kind in history, with more than $20 million likely to be spent by Democrats, Republicans and their allies. Karen Handel, the Republican nominee, is favored, but polling shows a close race and Democrats are hoping that President Trump’s narrow margin of victory there in November creates an opening for them to flip a reliably GOP seat.
