Nikki Haley sends message to countries: ‘We’re taking names’

Nikki Haley, President Trump’s new U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, said Friday she’s “taking names” of countries “that don’t have our back.”

“We have hit the ground running. There is a new US-U.N.,” Haley said during a Friday press conference at the U.N. headquarters in New York City. “Our goal with the administration is to show value at the U.N. And the way that we’ll show value is to show our strength, show our voice, have the backs of our allies and make sure that our allies have our back as well. For those that don’t have our back, we’re taking names. We will make points to respond to that accordingly.”

The former Republican governor of South Carolina said her team’s goal is not to work harder, but smarter. World leaders should expect a change in the way the US-UN office conducts business, Haley said.

The newly-minted ambassador said she will consider which aspects of the US-U.N. office are working, need improvement and need to be terminated.

“Everything that’s working, we’re going to make it better. Everything that’s not working, we’re going to try and fix. And anything that seems to be obsolete and not necessary, we’re going to do away with,” Haley said. “But this is a time of fresh eyes, new strength, new vision.”
