Mark Levin issues scathing rebuke of New York Times: ‘Not a voice for freedom or truth, let alone real journalism’

Conservative radio show host Mark Levin slammed the New York Times as “not a voice for freedom or truth, let alone real journalism.”

“I want to remind you that the New York Times Corporation no more cares about the survival of this Republic than it cared about the Holocaust and Stalin’s slaughter of Ukrainians. It is a diabolical corporate media operation,” Levin tweeted Monday morning in a thread.

“And yes, it is particularly relevant to know this in the lead up to the election. It is a media corporation with a horrific record. It is not a voice for freedom or truth, let alone real journalism,” he continued.

The tweets came after the New York Times published a report Sunday evening saying President Trump only paid $750 in federal income taxes in both 2016 and 2017. The New York Times also reported Trump paid no federal taxes in 10 of the last 15 years “largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.”

Trump and his team immediately denied the report as “fake news” Sunday evening.

“That is fake news. That is totally fake news,” Trump said at a press conference.

“Actually, I pay taxes. You will see that as soon as my tax returns, it’s under audit,” he added. “It’s been under audit for a long time. The IRS does not treat me well. They treat me like the Tea Party, like they treated the Tea Party. And they don’t treat me well. They treat me very badly.”

Alan Garten, a lawyer for the Trump Organization, said that “most, if not all, of the facts appear to be inaccurate.” He added that Trump “has paid tens of millions of dollars in personal taxes to the federal government, including paying millions in personal taxes since announcing his candidacy in 2015.”

Levin continued in his thread that the outlet is working to “elect Biden and destroy Trump.”

“There are several thorough, scholarly works that have been written about the monumental and horrific failures of the Times, and that is worth keeping in mind as it attempts to elect Biden and destroy Trump,” he said, before also linking to his new book, “Unfreedom of the Press.”
