Report: Trump, Cruz meet privately for first time after primary

Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz reportedly met Thursday afternoon in a closed-door meeting that included Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

According to multiple reports, the two men convened at the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s headquarters on Capitol Hill shortly after the presumptive GOP presidential nominee met with Republican members of both congressional chambers.

Aides close to Cruz did not return the Washington Examiner‘s requests for comment.

The meeting comes more than two months after the Texas senator suspended his White House bid after suffering a crushing defeat in the Indiana primary. Shortly before delivering his concession speech, Cruz called Trump a “pathological liar” and a “narcissist at a level I don’t think this country has ever seen.”

Cruz has since withheld an endorsement of Trump. Shortly after dropping out, the Texas Republican told conservative radio host Glenn Beck he no longer saw a “viable path to victory” for his campaign.

“If that changes, we will certainly respond accordingly,” Cruz said.
