New York’s top cop ‘appalled’ Trump took Purple Heart from soldier

Outgoing New York Police Commissioner Bill Bratton said Wednesday that he wasn’t happy that Donald Trump accepted a soldier’s Purple Heart.

Upon receiving the medal at a Tuesday rally in Virginia from a retired lieutenant, Trump said, “I always wanted to get the Purple Heart. This was much easier.”

These kind of words and actions are ones that have left Bratton “amazed and appalled,” he told an MSNBC panel Wednesday morning. When asked what he thinks about Trump being the “law and order candidate” and helping cities that are “spiraling out of control,” Bratton said he had his doubts.

“I would not trust that he would be able to do much about that, being quite frank with you. Cities aren’t spiraling out of control,” Bratton said. “I always wonder about tough guys that talk tough. I wonder if Mr. Trump has ever taken a punch in his life in the sense of an actual punch — It’s nice to talk tough.”

Bratton, who announced Tuesday he would resign in September as police commission to return to the private sector, said he would have “serious concerns” about Trump’s ability to actually bring law and order to America.
