Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus refused to share details about his meeting with GOP front-runner Donald Trump at the organization’s headquarters earlier Thursday.
But the party chairman offered a firm warning in an interview with Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren to the three remaining Republican candidates, who have recently indicated they may not follow through on a pledge to support the eventual nominee.
“I’m not really worried about in regard to supporting the eventual nominee or the party. They’ve all agreed to that by virtue of — in one case signing our data agreement,” Priebus warned the candidates. “They’re not gonna get our data, the tools of the RNC and run to be our nominee when telling me they’re not going to support the party.”
The party chairman added that the meeting was not a surprise and was scheduled days ago because Trump’s team had said he would be in town on other business.
“I’m really not gonna talk about what we talked about. I can’t have meetings with candidates if I’m gonna talk about what we talked about,” Priebus said.
Priebus admitted it was a “good meeting” and said the two discussed convention protocols, including what will happen if none of the three conservative candidates can attain 1,237 delegates, the number necessary to secure the nomination.
