The firearm used by Kyle Rittenhouse to shoot three people, two fatally, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, was destroyed Friday.
The weapon, an AR-style rifle, was destroyed in the care of the Wisconsin State Crime Lab, according to a report.
Rittenhouse killed Anthony Huber and Joseph Rosenbaum and wounded Gaige Grosskreutz during a riot in the wake of the August 2020 shooting of Jacob Blake, a black man, by police.

He was found not guilty on all counts in the homicide trial against him Nov. 19 and has stated that he shot the men in self-defense.
The 19-year-old reportedly wanted the weapon destroyed.
Rittenhouse’s attorney initially filed to have the firearm and other personal items returned to Rittenhouse, and the other items are now in the teenager’s possession.
However, Rittenhouse is not the legal owner of the gun, according to the report.
