Sorry, Anna. That snowman might not be possible in the new, evil, climate change-wrecked world of the Obama administration’s “Frozen” spinoff.
According to The Hill, a State Department official recently met with Disney to discuss the idea of using “Frozen’s” characters to teach children about the impact of global warming on the polar bear.
Robert Papp, the State Department’s envoy for the Arctic, recounted the meeting for Responding to Climate Change.
“I went to Disney and I had the opportunity to speak to an executive there. In explaining why we wanted Disney’s assistance on this, I said, ‘You’ve taught an entire generation about the Arctic. Unfortunately the Arctic that you’ve taught them about is a fantasy kingdom in Norway, where everything is nice,'” Papp said.
“And I said what we really need to do is educate the American youth about the plight of the polar bear, about the falling tundra, about Alaskan villages that run the risk of falling into the sea because of the lack of sea ice protecting their shores.”
Disney didn’t really buy into the idea. And since “Frozen” in its current form is the highest grossest animated film of all time, it’s not really hard to see why.
told Papp that the company prefers optimistic stories.
“We’re regrouping on our story line and we still have Disney engaged, but there’s more yet to come there,” Papp added.
We’re thinking they might just need to let it go.
