RNC fires back, runs paid ads against CNN and NBC

CNN and NBC are gearing up for their Hillary Clinton projects, but the Republican National Committee is firing back, releasing a series of videos capitalizing on the 2016 hopeful’s cringeworthy moments.

The RNC unveiled the first in the series Monday, just weeks after CNN and NBC announced they would be airing a documentary and a miniseries, respectively, on the 2016 hopeful. The ads, titled “Will the Hillary Films Include…,” will highlight negative aspects of Clinton’s career the networks may choose to hide in the productions.

“If CNN and NBC are both making productions to promote Hillary Clinton, we have some suggestions for them. They should first remember to include how she failed to answer basic questions about Benghazi,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement.

The RNC’s first 30-second ad features Clinton testifying on Capitol Hill about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the American consulate in Benghazi. She famously asked ‘what difference does it make,’ regarding what caused the attack, which resulted in the deaths of four Americans, including Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Following CNN and NBC’s announcement on what is sure to be pro-Hillary productions, Priebus announced that if the networks moved forward with them, “the RNC will neither partner with these networks in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates they sponsor.”

“It’s ridiculous that major networks choose to air pro-Hillary productions that could unfairly influence Americans’ political decisions,” Priebus said Monday. “And I’m not going to permit such networks to moderate Republican debates.”

The RNC also said it would be buying promoted advertisements on CNN and NBC’s YouTube channels to counter the productions, The Weekly Standard reported.

Clinton is currently the frontrunner in the race for the White House.
