The State of the Union is only a few days away, but Madame Speaker isn’t quite sure what she’s wearing yet, despite the fact she’ll be visible behind President Bush for nearly the entirety of his speech Monday.

“I don’t know what I’m wearing,” Nancy Pelosi told Yeas & Nays when asked of her attire plans. “I guess I need to get going on that. I’ll have to see what I’ve left at the cleaners.”

What about an Oscar de la Renta? “That’d be nice,” she replied. “He’s very popular right now.”

We bumped into Pelosi at a book party held at the Woodley Park home of Tony and Heather Podesta for Christine Pelosi, on the occasion of the paperback release of “Campaign Boot Camp.” In her remarks, Christine recalled some of her first memories of Podesta.

“Back in the day, I was instantly impressed with him, because he could boast two things: He had a cell phone and he could sleep sitting up,” Pelosi said.

The event was a liberal love-in, with the Pelosis and Podestas being joined by Bill and Carol Press, and Reps. John Conyers, D-Mich., and Patrick Murphy, D-Pa./>
