Guam National Guard marches to Marjorie Taylor Greene’s office after blunder referring to territory as foreign country

Members of the Guam National Guard marched to the office of Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after the Republican referred to the United States territory as a foreign country during the Conservative Political Action Conference.

“Guam Rep. Michael F.Q. San Nicolas and members of the Guam National Guard visited the office of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene after she falsely called the U.S. territory a foreign land,” the Hill tweeted.

The group was led by Guam’s congressional Del. Michael San Nicolas, who promised to deliver Greene cookies last week in response to her Guam blunder.

“I’m a regular person. And I wanted to take my regular-person, normal, everyday American values, which is, we love our country. We believe our hard-earned tax dollars should just go for America, not for what? China, Russia, the Middle East, Guam, whatever, wherever,” Greene said during her CPAC speech in February.

The group of National Guard members and Nicolas were met by one of Greene’s aides, who informed them that the lawmaker wasn’t in her office at the time and thanked them for their service.

“Thank you guys so much for all that you do. We really appreciate it. Thank you guys for keeping us safe,” the aide said.

The scene, however, drew criticism that it was politicizing the military.

“Can we stop encouraging uniformed members of the military to take part in digital dunk contests please thanks,” tweeted Daily Caller Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Ingersoll.

Ingersoll was likely referring to an incident last week in which a Marine Corps Twitter account drew criticism for a social media post calling Fox News host Tucker Carlson a “boomer.”

“What it looks like in today’s armed forces @TuckerCarlson. Get right before you get left, boomer,” the II MEF Information Group tweeted, including a photo of a female soldier carrying another soldier on her shoulders.

The post was quickly condemned as “unacceptable” for a U.S. military account.
