Former President Donald Trump wants to know why there is a delay in the vote count for Fairfax County, Virginia, on Election Night.
In a brief message blasted out by his Save America PAC, Trump commented on the race between Terry McAuliffe, the Democratic candidate for governor in Virginia, and GOP candidate Glenn Youngkin.
“Early indications are that MAGA voters are turning out big for Glenn Youngkin, let’s see what happens. All eyes are on Fairfax, why the delay?” Trump said just before 9 p.m.
Election Day polling places closed at 7 p.m. However, results are likely to be lagging in Fairfax County, a Washington, D.C., suburb where Democrats run strong and McAuliffe needs to run up the score.

Fairfax County officials said that the early vote and absentee totals will be reported late, after planning to post by 8 p.m.
Major networks had not called the governor’s race as of 9 p.m., though it looked like Youngkin had the advantage, which appeared to be enough for Republicans to declare victory.
“I would like to thank my BASE for coming out in force and voting for Glenn Youngkin,” Trump said in a follow-up statement. “Without you, he would not have been close to winning. The MAGA movement is bigger and stronger than ever before. Glenn will be a great governor. Thank you to the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia and most particularly, to our incredible MAGA voters!”
“It is looking like Terry McAuliffe’s campaign against a certain person named ‘Trump’ has very much helped Glenn Youngkin,” he said in a third. “All McAuliffe did was talk Trump, Trump, Trump and he lost! What does that tell you, Fake News? I guess people running for office as Democrats won’t be doing that too much longer. I didn’t even have to go rally for Youngkin, because McAuliffe did it for me. Thank you to the MAGA voters for turning out big!”
Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel released a statement heralding a “red wave” arriving in the state.
“Congratulations to Republicans Glenn Youngkin, Winsome Sears, and Jason Miyares on their incredible campaigns and hard fought victories,” she added. “This Republican sweep in Virginia is a resounding rebuke of the failed policies of Joe Biden and the Democrats. Virginians — and Americans across the country — are fed up with Biden’s divisive policies, failed leadership, and a Democrat agenda hurting working families. A Republican wave is coming in 2022, and Virginia is just the start.”
Trump says the 2020 presidential election was stolen from him, claiming there was widespread fraud and other irregularities, some of which are based on suspicions surrounding vote spikes in left-leaning counties. However, election officials, including authorities in Trump’s own administration, insisted there was no proof to support those claims.
