Trump appears via video at RNC, celebrates becoming nominee

Soon after he officially became the Republican nominee, Donald Trump appeared with a live video message for supporters at the Republican National Convention, where he thanked the delegates for putting him over the top during the roll call earlier in the evening.

Trump opened his three-minute-long message by praising his wife, Melania Trump, one night after she delivered her highly anticipated speech, which was a topic of discussion most of Tuesday after it emerged that passages of her speech were similar to those from Michelle Obama during the 2008 Democratic National Convention.

“Melania and i had such a great time last night, an unbelievable evening,” Trump said before turning to his winning the nomination. “Today has been a very, very special day, watching my children put me over the top earlier, the party seal — I mean, what we did, getting the party’s nomination, I’ll never forget it. It was something I’ll never, ever forget.”

Trump went on to tout his campaign and the “historic results” they achieved during the primary process. He also called it an “honor” to run on the same ticket as Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, who he announced as his running mate on Friday.

“I’ll be with him in Cleveland tomorrow night,” Trump said, referring to Pence’s Wednesday night address before the convention. “We’ll be together again on Thursday night, and by the way, we are going to win the state of Ohio and also, of course, we’re going to win the presidency and bring real change and leadership back to Washington.”

Trump is set to deliver his acceptance speech before the convention on Thursday night, which will likely become his fourth straight appearance in a row.
