DHS asks America to run more computer virus scans

Cyber fit” is a watchword of the President Obama’s counterterrorism bureacurats, as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) suggested this morning that Americans adopt greater online security as a New Year’s Resolution.

“If you’re still looking for a New Year’s resolution, it’s not too late to join the Stop.Think.Connect.™ Campaign in setting online safety resolutions for 2012,” the DHS blog observed. “Cybersecurity is a shared responsibility and each of us has a role to play,” DHS added.

DHS warned against online scams, manually conducting virus scans on every day, and “updat[ing] and creat[ing] strong passwords on a monthly basis.”

DHS offers “more basic tips to stay cyber fit” here.
