Donald Trump Jr.’s team changed the name of his upcoming talk at a conference for business leaders in New Delhi after ethics questions were raised about whether the president’s son was inappropriately mixing business with politics.
The last minute change amended the title of the on-stage discussion from “Reshaping Indo-Pacific Ties: The New Era of Cooperation,” to “Fireside Chat with Donald Trump Jr., Executive Vice President, The Trump Organization.” CNN said the first title suggested Trump Jr. might cross a line that is supposed to separate President Trump and his businesses, which his family still run.
Several questions have come up about the president’s eldest son blurring political and business lines, and his talk in New Delhi comes after a four-city tour to sell Trump condos in India.
The State Department said Trump Jr. is traveling as a private citizen, and not a representative of the U.S. government.
Netflix CEO Reed Hastings, Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi are also scheduled to speak at the conference.
