The Tribe (6-9, 1-4 Colonial Athletic Association) is a shadow of the team that faced the Patriots (12-3, 5-0) in last year’s CAA Tournament final, despite the presence of Fairfax native Danny Summer, who is fifth in the conference at 15.9 points per game.
George Mason senior forward Darryl Monroe, who was named co-CAA player of the week, is averaging 15 points and 11.7 rebounds in his last three games.
“During the last three or four weeks,” said Patriots head coach Jim Larranaga. “[Monroe has] started to look for his scoring opportunities, and it’s made him a much tougher player to defend against, both as a scorer and as a passer. He’s been rebounding the ball extremely well at both ends of the court.”

To help get American senior guard Garrison Carr out of a shooting funk that coincided with the Eagles (9-6, 1-0 Patriot League) losing four of five during non-conference play back in November and December, assistant coach Kieran Donohue made him a video of all the 3-pointers he had made to that point.
“By watching the video,” said Carr, “I forgot about the shots that I missed.”
Carr has hit 19 of 34 attempts from beyond the arc in the four games since, all victories.
The Bison (3-12, 0-1) have lost six in a row and are 0-9 on the road this season.

The fast-sinking Colonials (6-7, 0-1 Atlantic 10), who have lost five straight have a huge defensive challenge in stifling the Dukes (11-4, 2-0), who have won six in a row and lead the A-10 in assists (17.73), steals (8.4) and three-pointers (8.6) per game. Duquesne averages 79.1 points per contest, 15.6 more than George Washington. The Dukes beat the Colonials, 92-67, in last year’s visit to Palumbo Center.
