A 63-car pileup caused dozens of injuries, some life-threatening, on a Virginia interstate.
The mass wreck took on Sunday morning on I-64’s westbound lanes near Williamsburg. Virginia state police said fog and ice on Queens Creek bridge might have been part of the cause of the crashes.

Police reported that 35 people were rescued from the crash site and transported to a hospital for treatment. No fatalities have been reported, but two people were confirmed to have life-threatening injuries, according to WAVY.
The pileup shoved some vehicles off the road as others slammed in behind them. Some vehicles came to rest on top of or underneath others. The traffic was packed together so tightly that emergency responders were forced to walk over the tops of cars to reach vehicles in the middle of the interstate.
State officials shut down the eastbound lane along with the westbound to stop people from rubbernecking at the massive crash scene. Officials reopened the eastbound lanes around 11 a.m., according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.
