Comedian Bob Saget died of head trauma last month, his family revealed Wednesday.
The statement, reported by E! News, offers an explanation of what happened after the Full House star was found dead at the age of 65 by law enforcement at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Orlando on Jan. 9 while he was on a comedy tour.
“In the weeks since Bob’s passing, we have been overwhelmed with the incredible outpouring of love from Bob’s fans, which has been a great comfort to us and for which we are eternally grateful,” the family said. “Now that we have the final conclusions from the authorities’ investigation, we felt it only proper that the fans hear those conclusions directly from us.”
Saget “accidentally hit the back of his head on something, thought nothing of it and went to sleep,” the family said, adding that no drugs or alcohol were involved, according to the report.
Saget’s death prompted a wave of tributes, including from fans and other actors who were part of the Full House family.

“As we continue to mourn together, we ask everyone to remember the love and laughter that Bob brought to this world, and the lessons he taught us all: to be kind to everyone, to let the people you love know you love them, and to face difficult times with hugs and laughter,” the family’s statement ended.
Saget is survived by his second wife, Kelly Rizo, and three children, who are in their late 20s and 30s, with ex-wife Sherri Kramer. Saget was laid to rest at a funeral attended by friends and family last month in Los Angeles.
