State Sen. Wright gets 90 days in jail for perjury

LOS ANGELES (AP) — State Sen. Rod Wright has been sentenced to 90 days in Los Angeles County jail for lying about his legal residence.

Wright was also ordered Friday to complete 1,500 hours of community service. He will be on probation for three years.

Wright was convicted of perjury in January of lying about his residence in the first of three unrelated cases against state lawmakers that cast a shadow over the Legislature.

Prosecutors wanted Wright to serve six months of confinement.
