RNC hauls in $8.7 million in October

The Republican National Committee raised $8.7 million in the month of October, marking another record-breaking figure for the party in the presidential off-year fundraising cycle.

Last month, the RNC announced a haul of $25.2 million during the third fundraising quarter and reported having $19.7 million cash-on-hand. The committee now says it has $20.4 million in the bank and has raised just shy of $90 million so far this election cycle.

“With just under a year until Election Day 2016 we’re seeing great enthusiasm for the GOP,” RNC Chairman Reince Priebus said in a statement released Friday.

“The RNC is the only organization on either side of the aisle currently running a full-scale General Election field operation, and we’re able to do so thanks to the thousands of supporters who continue to give us a decisive advantage over the Democrat National Committee in preparing to win,” he added.

According to the RNC, 99 percent of individual contributions it received in October were for $200 or less, with the average donation being $69. The committee still carries $1.8 million in debts and loans.

Meanwhile, the Democratic National Committee remains bogged down by debt and less-than-impressive fundraising figures.

According to its latest filing with the Federal Election Commission, the DNC currently carries $6.7 million in debt while having just $5.5 million in the cash-on-hand. The committee has yet to release its October fundraising numbers.
