WATCH: Mayor Bowser relaxes some COVID-19 mandates in Washington

Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser announced Monday the city’s vaccine mandate on businesses would end effectively on Feb. 15.

This means patrons will no longer be required to show proof of vaccination to dine at restaurants or other indoor venues, but Bowser says businesses have the option of continuing to ask.

The mayor made the announcement at a Monday press conference, adding, “We are in a much better place now.”

The announcement prompted members of the community to ask about the repercussions that burger restaurant the Big Board faced for refusing to comply.

“Justice for Big Board,” one person tweeted.

The business had its liquor license revoked in January after tweeting that “everyone is welcome…today and tomorrow.”

“So Muriel Bowser crushed Big Board to enforce a rule she was just gonna drop like a week later anyway,” the Washington Examiner’s Jerry Dunleavy tweeted.
