Bo Derek, John Corbett say ‘hey’ to Capitol Hill for horses

Wednesday marked Horses on the Hill day with lawmakers, activists and actors pledging to prevent American horses from being exported for slaughter. Actress Bo Derek, a self-proclaimed “horse woman,” has been working on the issue for a decade and voiced frustration that Congress couldn’t get legislation passed. “I have witnessed for 10 years the money that’s gone into fighting this on both sides, it’s truly vulgar and obscene,” she told Yeas & Nays. “It’s insane with all important things going on — sign a piece of paper and it’s over and we are all a better country and a better people for it.”

Derek appeared alongside “The Bachelor’s” Prince Lorenzo Borghese and “Sex and the City’s” John Corbett, who came in under the radar and didn’t make remarks, but once activists and staffers got a whiff that “Aidan” was on hand, a line for pictures quickly formed.

“I don’t know if frustrated is the right word,” Corbett told Yeas & Nays. “It’s just a shame, that we don’t have a problem with the French eating horses, that’s fine, we have a problem with the French eating American horses when Americans, we don’t consume horses,” the actor concluded.
