Teen disappeared from Upper Marlboro group home

Authorities are continuing to look for a teenage girl who ran away from her Upper Marlboro home last spring.

Daquan Lashell Thompson was 16 years old when she went missing from the group home where she was living on April 30, according to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

It’s unknown why Daquan left or where she was going, said Melinda Stevens, director of the missing children division for NCMEC.

“It did not appear that she was upset over anything,” Stevens said. Daquan, who is now 17, did not take any extra clothing with her when she left and did not leave a note, she said.

Daquan apparently has not been in contact with anyone she knew since she went missing.

“There’s been no sightings,” Stevens said.

Stevens said authorities are especially concerned because Daquan is not believed to have had any access to money.

Investigators don’t know of any towns or neighborhoods to which she might have fled, though she is believed to have remained in the D.C. region.

Daquan sometimes goes by the nickname “Diamond.” She is described as black, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and about 180 pounds, according to NCMEC. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

When she went missing, she was wearing a wired dental device. She has several tattoos: One of a music note on her hand, a heart on her right thigh and a third that reads “DC” on her shoulder.

Anyone with information about her disappearance or whereabouts is asked to call NCMEC at 800-THE-LOST (843-5678).
