Clinton on ‘possible’ Koch support: No thanks

Hillary Clinton responded after billionaire conservative donor Charles Koch said she might make a better president than any of the remaining Republican candidates.

“Not interested in endorsements from people who deny climate science and try to make it harder for people to vote,” the Democratic presidential front-runner tweeted Sunday.

The Democratic front-runner was referring to support by Koch and his brother David for voter identification laws, which Democrats argue unfairly prevent poor people, especially black voters, from voting. The Kochs also fund various efforts to combat proposals like taxing carbon emissions that supports say would help reduce global warming.

Charles Koch did not come close to endorsing Clinton. But he said in an interview ABC News aired Sunday that she might be better than a GOP presidential nominee. Koch’s comment was widely seen as expression of opposition to GOP front-runner Donald Trump and perhaps also to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

“We would have to believe her actions would be quite different than her rhetoric,” Koch said when asked if he could support Hillary. “Let me put it that way.”

Though Clinton knocked Koch, her campaign’s decision to reference his remarks suggest she is interested in highlighting them as she prepares for a potential general election fight with Trump or Cruz.
