President Trump said Wednesday that it was “very scary” to receive the nuclear codes after he took the oath of office last week.
“When they explained what it represents and the kind of destruction that you are talking about, it is a very sobering moment, yes,” Trump said in an interview with ABC News. “It’s very, very scary in a sense.”
Trump added that it doesn’t keep him up at night.
“I’m confident I’ll do that right thing. The right job.” he said. “But it’s a very, very scary thing.”
From the moment Trump was sworn in, he will be followed everywhere he goes by a military aide carrying the nuclear “football,” which includes the codes, war plans and communication tools needed to start a nuclear war.
