Of all the presidential candidates to heckle, it’s an odd choice that DREAMers would choose Jeb Bush. But on Monday, they did just that.
NBC News reported that Jeb was speaking at a women entrepreneurs luncheon at the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce conference in Houston when protesters attempted to disrupt the event.
Jeb is one of the few GOP presidential candidates who has supported amnesty for illegal immigrants and the DREAM Act. He has faced criticism from others running, most notably from Donald Trump.
He was able to calm the crowd by saying “I’ll continue to be consistently for it, irrespective of what the political ramifications of that are.”
It seems that the protesters do not believe that Jeb is doing enough though. Cesar Espinosa said to NBC in an e-mail that Jeb “has said that and turned around and done the complete opposite, so we do not believe him. As a leading voice in the Republican Party and with an immigrant wife, he should be the champion in his party.”
Espinosa also complained that the protesters were “scorned” and “pushed out.”
Mediaite reported on the event as well, that the protesters were shouting “no hope without our vote.” They also included tweets and a vine video from BuzzFeed’s Adrian Carrasquillo.
Bush handled protest well, answered them and moved on. But was aided by security who kicked out protesters.
