Tiger Woods will visit the White House next week at President Trump’s invitation following his dramatic comeback win at the Masters.
Trump announced last month that he would present Woods with the presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian award, in recognition of Woods’ fifth green jacket.
The president is an avid golfer, and golf course owner, who has played several rounds with the 43-year-old star. The pair joined Jack Nicklaus at the Trump National Golf Club in Jupiter, Fla., earlier this year.
Woods’ victory at Augusta this year was his 15th major win, leaving him just three behind Nicklaus’ record of 18.
Spoke to @TigerWoods to congratulate him on the great victory he had in yesterday’s @TheMasters, & to inform him that because of his incredible Success & Comeback in Sports (Golf) and, more importantly, LIFE, I will be presenting him with the PRESIDENTIAL MEDAL OF FREEDOM!

In the past decade he has been beset by injuries that required four rounds of back surgery, as well as intense scrutiny of his troubled private life after his marriage fell apart in very public circumstances.
He was also arrested two years ago after being found asleep in his car at traffic lights. He later pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
Woods alluded to the turmoil after his victory.
“It’s overwhelming, just because of what’s transpired,” he said as he celebrated the title.
