Roy Blunt: Trump ‘better served’ by not blocking James Comey testimony

Missouri Republican Roy Blunt doesn’t think President Trump blocking the testimony of former FBI Director James Comey is a good strategic move.

“I think the president is better served by getting all of this information out sooner rather than later,” he said on “Fox News Sunday.” “You don’t do that by invoking executive privilege on a conversation you had, apparently with nobody else in the room.”

The conversation Blunt was referring to is one where Trump reportedly asked Comey to end a probe into former national security adviser Mike Flynn.

Blunt is on the Senate Intelligence Committee, which will hear Comey’s testimony on Thursday.

Trump hasn’t made a decision on whether to invoke executive privilege to prevent Comey from testifying, but a New York Times report on Friday indicated he would not.
