Trump says phone app may prove his vote fraud claim

President Trump on Friday cited a voter fraud app that lets people report allegations of illegal voting as a possible source for his claim that at least 3 million people voted illegally in November.

“Look forward to seeing final results of VoteStand. Gregg Phillips and crew say at least 3,000,000 votes were illegal. We must do better!” Trump tweeted Friday.

VoteStand is a free smartphone app that can be downloaded onto any iPhone or Android phone. It allows the user to take a photo and fill out “specific identifying information” of someone who the user believes is casting an illegal vote.

That photo and identifying information is then posted in the app “in order to provide enough evidence to pursue legal action against the person/persons committing the fraud,” according to the app’s website.

Users can then share their allegation to other social media websites.

Phillips appeared on CNN touting his app Friday morning, but declined to give any proof that the allegation of millions of illegal votes actually took place.
