‘Full House’ actress Lori Loughlin surrenders to feds

Actress Lori Loughlin turned herself into federal authorities in Los Angeles a day after being charged in a college admissions bribery case.

FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller confirmed Loughlin is in custody after she turned herself in Wednesday. The “Full House” actress is expected to appear in court in Los Angeles in the afternoon.

Federal authorities, who had a warrant for Loughlin’s arrest Tuesday, did not find the actress in her California home. Authorities were told that she was out-of-town when they arrived. She was reportedly filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, when the charges were announced.

Loughlin was among those charged in a college admissions bribery case, according to court records unsealed Tuesday.

The massive scheme, announced by federal prosecutors in Boston Tuesday, involves high-income families bribing standardized test administrators, college admissions officials, and local sports coaches with the goal of getting their children in some of the most selective universities in the country. Felicity Huffman, from the “Desperate Housewives” show, and the Obama family tennis instructor are among the roughly 50 people who were charged.

Prosecutors say the Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli, a fashion designer, paid out $500,000 in bribes to land both their daughters spots in the University of Southern California. The bribes were directed to university officials with the goal of getting their daughters brought on as recruits to the school’s crew team. Neither of the girls are rowers.
