SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — The San Jose Sharks have signed an affiliation agreement with the San Francisco Bulls of the ECHL for the 2012-13 season.

The agreement announced Wednesday makes the Bulls the development affiliate for the team’s inaugural season in San Francisco. The Bulls will play their home games at the Cow Palace, where the Sharks played their first two NHL seasons prior to moving to San Jose in 1993.

The Worcester Sharks will still serve as San Jose’s American Hockey League affiliate.

Sharks assistant general manager Wayne Thomas said in a statement that “our organizations share the same passion to put a strong, competitive product on the ice, as well as being an active member in our shared Bay Area communities.”

The Bulls open their inaugural season Oct. 12.
