Trump TV starts now — sort of — on Facebook.
Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, whose penchant for Twitter has become a huge deal this election, announced Monday on his Facebook page that his campaign will host from Trump Tower in New York City a Facebook Live stream every night at 6:30 p.m. EST.
“This is a HISTORIC movement. Together, we will once again make a government by, for, and of the people! Help us close out the final weeks of this campaign strong and WIN,” Trump wrote in a post along that featured the inaugural stream. The post also features a pitch for donations of $10.
Monday’s live stream featured commentary from Trump campaign advisers Boris Epshteyn and Cliff Sims, and conservative commentator Tomi Lahren, along with an interview with Trump campaign manager Kellyanne Conway. The broadcast concluded with a livestream of Trump’s rally in Tampa, Fla.
The live stream drew about 40,000 viewers and as of press time had over 1.1 million views, was liked by over 83,000 Facebook users and was shared 31,000 times.
While there have been reports lately of Trump considering a post-election TV network, the campaign was quick to deny that the nightly Facebook live stream is a test run for what has been labeled “Trump TV.”
“We all know how strong the left wing media bias is. This is us delivering our message to voters,” Epshteyn told Wired. “It has nothing to do with Trump TV. It’s about using 21st century technology and communication in a way that’s effective.”
