President Trump denied that his former adviser Roger Stone told him to fire former FBI Director James Comey following his testimony last week.
CNN cited an anonymous source that Stone told Trump to get rid of Comey after he appeared at a Senate hearing last week. Trump said that wasn’t true.
“The Roger Stone report on @CNN is false – Fake News. Have not spoken to Roger in a long time – had nothing to do with my decision,” Trump tweeted.

Trump fired Comey in a surprise move Tuesday evening. He cited Comey’s handling of the Hillary Clinton email scandal last summer as the primary reason, though many Demcorats have speculated Trump is worried about the FBI’s investigation into Trump campaign officials and their possible connections to Russia.
Stone has been a part of that investigation.
