‘East Coast Rapist’ gets life sentences

The man police dubbed the “East Coast Rapist” for a string of attacks on women was sentenced to three life sentences plus 80 years for a 2009 Halloween assault on trick-or-treating teenagers in Manassas.

Aaron H. Thomas, 41, the son of a D.C. police officer, is suspected in more than a dozen attacks that occurred from 1997 to 2009 in Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut and Rhode Island.

The Halloween attack was the last in a series that police linked mostly through DNA to Thomas.
