FBI seeks female bank robber

The FBI is investigating the robbery of a bank near Penn Quarter, and authorities are asking the public to help identify the robber. At about 2:30 p.m. Thursday, a woman walked into the Independence Bank at 1006 E St. NW and demanded money. The thief took an undetermined amount of cash and fled on foot, authorities said.

The thief was described as a white female, about 5-foot-6, 145 pounds and 40 years old. She was wearing a white National Mall T-shirt and khaki pants, and carrying a white canvas bag.

FBI officials said the robber is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information, can call Special Agent John Dunham of the FBI Washington Field Office at 202-278-2000.
