The man-bun is dead: Long live the man-braid

In the world of millennial men’s style, 2015 was without a doubt the year of the man-bun. Times have changed though, and millennial men have moved on to the man braid.

The World of Buzz declared that main braids is 2016’s newest hair trend for men. It’s not exactly a new hairstyle, certainly black men have been styling their hair with braids for decades.

This new man braid craze is not the mainstreaming of black hairstyles. This is more of a fusion of hipster Braveheart meets Princess Leia in The Empire Strikes Back. Lots of men in nice neighborhoods who look like they could be relaying a convoy to Alderaan or fighting the English for a free Scotland — but in fact are riding a bicycle to the used book store and then a gluten-free brunch.

It’s not the worst hairstyle in the world. It’s perfect for the man who wants to be “lumbersexual,” but also show that he grooms and showers.

Man braiding works for guys who already so handsome that they could probably pull off any hairstyle, but probably shouldn’t be attempted by male feminists who would blur the lines between questioning your gender and trying your hand at the newest fad. Sometimes less is more.

While some might think this is the feminization of men, it beats the alternative at least millennial men look like they’re trying to put pride in their appearance.

As heard in #BOUNCENews: introducing the #manbraid ? Thoughts????
