STAMFORD, Texas (AP) — Environmental authorities are working to clean and contain about 250 gallons of a liquid form of natural gas that spilled into a West Texas lake.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality says natural gas condensate spilled into Lake Stamford on Monday. The agency says Atmos Energy was performing routine maintenance on a power plant near the lake when the fluid was ejected from a pipe. They say the oil-like substance went into the water and splattered onto nearby homes.
