John Delaney: A serious commentator, if not a serious presidential candidate

John Delaney, a former congressman from Maryland, didn’t do very well in his campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination. He withdrew on Jan. 31 before the first votes were cast and counted. But he does very well on Twitter, as I chanced to discover. He’s well informed, thoughtful, not predictably partisan, full of good sense, and suitably modest.

He’s good on more recent developments, as well. In this era of polarized partisan parity, he wasn’t well suited to emerge as a serious contender for a presidential nomination, but he’s well suited to be a serious commentator.
