Judge Judy pleads guilty to political incorrectness.
The longest-serving judge in television history, whose full name is Judith Sheindlin, argued that being “P.C.” and ignoring the truth is not only ignorant but also damaging.
“Are my feelings necessarily P.C. and kumbaya? No, they are realistic,” she said in an interview with the Guardian, adding that ignoring the truth for the sake of political correctness is “hurtful, mostly to children.”

Sheindlin outlined a hypothetical of a parent using corporal punishment on a child to underscore her point that oversensitivity to people’s feelings can delay justice.
“How do you put together in your brain a mother punishing a child by putting out a cigarette on his arm [or] a parent punishing a child for wetting their pants by making them sit in scalding water? How do you do that?” she asked. “Do you say, ‘Well, I’m going to look at the childhood of the parent [because] maybe that’s all the parent knew?’ Not in my world. In my world, if that’s the way you know how to parent, you shouldn’t have any more children.”
The judge also weighed in on how she believes political correctness is harming people in the United States more broadly.
“In a society where there are no rules and boundaries are designed to be broken without consequence, people flail,” she said, citing “ridiculous” lawsuits, such as suing to allow emotional support animals into restricted areas.
Instead, she applauded the “courage” of those willing to balk P.C. culture in the interest of pursuing what she views as right, such as former President Bill Clinton’s 1996 welfare reforms.
“He disincentivized young girls from having children just because it was like getting a new pair of sneakers,” she explained.
Despite studies suggesting that 10% of college graduates think Sheindlin serves on the Supreme Court, the television judge dismissed the possibility of serving in such a role when asked during her interview.
A three-time Emmy winner, Sheindlin has mostly steered clear of partisan politics, but she did endorse former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg on Oct. 16, 2019, before he declared his 2020 presidential run.
“The only way we can begin to come together again … is if Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York City, becomes our next president,” the native New Yorker wrote in a USA Today op-ed, later adding that “we need a no-nonsense president who’s sane, competent, and honest.”
