Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Iran the “most anti-Semitic regime on the planet” during a speech before world leaders.
Speaking in Jerusalem at the World Holocaust Remembrance Center to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on Thursday, Netanyahu railed against the Iranian regime.
“We have yet to see a unified and resolute stance against the most anti-Semitic regime on the planet, a regime that openly seeks to develop nuclear weapons and annihilate the one and only Jewish state,” Netanyahu told the crowd.
Netanyahu vowed that “there will not be another Holocaust.”
“Israel will do whatever it must do to defend our state, defend our people, and defend the Jewish future,” he said.
Netanyahu, 70, also thanked the United States and President Trump for “confronting” Iran. The U.S. conducted a drone strike this month that killed Iranian military commander Qassem Soleimani, which was a major blow to the regime’s ability to coordinate with allied militia groups across the Middle East.
Leaders of more than 40 countries attended the speech. Among those who spoke was Vice President Mike Pence, who called for the world to “stand strong against the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
“We must be prepared to confront and expose the vile tide of anti-Semitism that is fueling hate and violence across the world, and we must stand together,” Pence told those gathered.
