BRIGHT BULB Thanks for the giving
In the true spirit of Thanksgiving, Baltimore native Dorothy Bair gave the Walters Art Museum a painting it could never have afforded to purchase. Bair donated “The Cherry Picker,” by 19th century French academic painter William Adolphe Bouguereau, to the museum. The painting, which had been lost to scholars for 90 years, might have been worth millions at auction. Curator Eik Kahng said it is just the piece the museum’s collection had been missing — and it will enrich Baltimore’s cultural presence for years to come.
TWO THUMBS UP: Make and Take to charity
WHO: Terri Morgan, owner of Make and Take Gourmet, a food preparation company where families prepare meals to take home in Pasadena.
WHAT: Morgan, whose business has been open since last November, decided to celebrate Make and Take’s anniversary by feeding 1,000 homeless people. She’s already well on her way, having sent hundreds of meals to Happy Helpers for the Homeless.
WHY IT’S A GOOD IDEA: The best part of this story is that Morgan is celebrating her success by helping others — especially since charitable giving is down nationwide and there are more down-on-their luck people who need a sandwich than ever.
WHERE TO HELP: Call 410-360-9353 to find out how to help Morgan with her goal.
