Mueller notifies judge of potential gag order violation by Roger Stone

Special counsel Robert Mueller on Monday alerted U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson to an Instagram post by Roger Stone that could be in violation of his gag order.

The post features Stone’s face under the words “who framed Roger Stone.”

Mueller’s office took no position in regard to the post rather than simply bringing it to Jackson’s attention. “We note for the court that according to public reporting, on March 3, 2019, the defendant’s Instagram account shared an image with the title ‘who framed Roger Stone,’” the filing reads.

Stone is under a gag order that prohibits him from speaking publicly or posting on social media about his case. Another Instagram post initiated the gag order. That photo showed a picture of Jackson’s face next to what appeared to be crosshairs.

After the post, Stone wrote an apology to the court and released a statement at the time denying the photo “was meant to somehow threaten the Judge or disrespect [the] court.”

Stone was arrested by the FBI in January during a pre-dawn raid on his Fort Lauderdale home. He was indicted by Mueller and the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia on seven counts, including making false statements to Congress, witness tampering, and obstruction of justice.

The self-proclaimed “dirty trickster” has denied any wrongdoing in the case and has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
