Former escaped inmate Casey White has been indicted on a charge of felony murder in connection to the death of Vicky White, a corrections officer who aided his escape.
Casey White, who is already serving a 75-year sentence for prior convictions, “caused the death of Vicky White,” Lauderdale County District Attorney Chris Connolly said.

“The Felony Murder indictment alleges that during the course of and in furtherance of committing Escape in the First Degree, White caused the death of Vicky White, who died from a gunshot to the head,” Connolly wrote in a release obtained by WAFF.
Casey White and Vicky White were the subjects of an 11-day nationwide manhunt in May after Casey White escaped from jail in Lauderdale County, Alabama. Authorities tracked the pair, who are not related, to a hotel in Evansville, Indiana. From there, a police chase ensued that ended in a car crash.
By the time authorities reached the car, they found Vicky White with a gunshot wound to the head, which the coroner classified as self-inflicted. Casey White, who was driving the vehicle, surrendered to authorities at the scene.
