Ericka Andersen: ‘Obsession’ makes clear it’s time to protect America

Like hidden security cameras, Islamic terrorist cells watch you, safely concealed in almost every major American city, according to a new documentary now screening in select cities and available online at YouTube.

“Obsession,” shows a map of the world, marked with an X for every known terror connection. The blur of Xs is everywhere and the daunting realization overwhelms.

“Obsession” makes eerie comparisons between Nazi Germany and radical Islam, from the childhood brainwashing and recruitment to surprisingly identical symbolism, ideology and hatred of Jews. Watching adolescents march in unison, strapped with machine guns and mimicking the signature Nazi salute to Allah, prophesies a tragic historical repetition.

“I hope Bush dies in flames, and I want to go to Ariel Sharon and kill him with a gun and stab him with a sword … ” a young Palestinian girl of about 10 happily chirps.

The film focuses on the increasingly radical militants whose hatred is inconceivable to most Americans.

“Obsession” demonstrates the totalitarian objectives of Islamic fanatics, who consistently portray U.S. government as a literal Satan. Public school books in Jordan and the Palestinian territories teach that, “This religion (Islam) will destroy all other religions through the Islamic jihadfighters.” In many parts of the Middle East, radical has become mainstream, blatantly exemplified in the film by 7-year-old school children screaming for jihad at school.

“Obsession” reveals young children aspiring to martyrdom, crowds passionately chanting “Death to America!” and the bloodthirsty aftermath of successful suicide attacks in New York, London, Madrid, Spain; Nairobi, Kenya; Russia and Iraq.

And according to those interviewed, the worst is yet to come.

“Everyone’s in denial about it … As soon as you say, ‘this is an extremist group,’ … you’re not being politically correct,” said John Loftus, a former Justice Department prosecutor.

Some seemingly moderate American Muslims fool us into pursuing this politically correct rhetoric. For example, the film shows a Muslim university student interviewed days after Sept. 11, 2001, attesting his horror, then jumps to a split screen of the same man celebrating the destruction of America.

If Americans took Islamic extremism at face value, we would unite forcefully against promises like this one from a Palestinian cleric: “We have ruled the world before and by Allah, the day will come when we will rule the entire world again!”

Such proclamations and worse echo throughout the film.

In one scene, an ambushed American vehicle in Iraq exposes people burning alive to onlooker’s cheers. Charred corpses are then dragged down the road by a joyful mob.

Muslim congregations elevate the Sept. 11 hijackers as the “Magnificent 19,” and Islamic clerics shout, “We swear by the blood and severed bodies of our children … !”

If Islam is a peaceful religion, it has been hijacked, too.

Just last week, British intelligence said they have identified 200 British-based terror cells in Britain alone.

“Islamo-fascists … say God almighty ordered we do this … . It is moredangerous than Nazi Germany,” said a former Palestine Liberation Organization terrorist in the documentary. “It is trying to grow in 55 countries and so potentially … several Nazi Germanys if they get their way.”

The film reminds viewers that the Sept. 11 terrorists came to our country, went to our schools, trained in our planes, and destroyed our towers. Terrorism is not just “over there.” It’s here. Our country seems unwilling to provide a viable option to prevent further attacks.

The documentary is particularly timely because on Nov. 14 Iran declared that its nuclear program is nearing completion. The film shows a gloating, confident President Mahoud Ahmedinejad promising that, “Islam will … conquer the mountaintops of the world … !”

That’s contrasted with footage of Neville Chamberlain in 1938 affirming a peace agreement with Adolf Hitler, which alone teaches us volumes about trusting an enemy.

Because of the grave threat posed by Islamic radicals, The Heritage Foundation’s Dr. Edwin Feulner, says Democrats’ plans to pull out of Iraq are a big mistake.

“If we cut and run,” Feulner said, “al-Qaida would tout its role in forcing the United States out, providing a huge recruiting boom for the terrorist group.”

And leaving behind a vulnerable, ill-prepared nation would illustrate a lack of national resolve, opening even more welcoming doors for terrorists to Iraq.

“Obsession” is scary, but once you see how our enemies seek to carry out fanatical goals, you will be prepared to fight.
