FBI official Peter Strozk has lost his security clearance, according to Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
Sessions, during an interview with conservative talk show host Howie Carr, revealed the measure was taken in the midst of an internal disciplinary review.
“Mr. Strzok, as I understand, has lost his security clearance,” Sessions said.
Strzok came under fire for texts he exchanged with former FBI agent Lisa Page during the 2016 election, in which the pair criticized Trump.

Last Friday, reports broke that Strzok had been escorted from the FBI building following the release of the highly anticipated Justice Department inspector general report. In the report, IG Michael Horowitz revealed specifics of the bureau’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails. Strzok, one of the head investigators in that probe, was also deeply involved in the investigation into potential collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.
On Sunday, Strzok’s attorney said he would be willing to submit to questioning on his involvement with the Russia probe and would not invoke his Fifth Amendment rights.
Trump has frequently voiced his frustration with the Russia investigation on Twitter and cited the messages exchanged between Strzok and Page as evidence of his own innocence.
FBI Agent Peter Strzok, who headed the Clinton & Russia investigations, texted to his lover Lisa Page, in the IG Report, that “we’ll stop” candidate Trump from becoming President. Doesn’t get any lower than that!
