Southeast D.C. man killed in officer-involved shooting

A 41-year-old man was shot and killed during an exchange of gunfire with a D.C. police officer, authorities said.

Dominique Campbell, of Southeast D.C., was pronounced dead at a hospital, D.C. police said.

About 10:45 p.m. Monday, an officer responded to a call for a man with a gun in the 4200 block of 6th Street SE. When he got to the area, the officer saw Campbell matching the description of the suspect.

Campbell pulled a gun and shot at the officer after the officer approached, and the two exchanged shots, police said. The officer was injured and was treated and released at a hospital.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
