An MS-13 gang member was sentenced to 40 years in prison Friday for his role in the robbery of a pimp and prostitute that resulted in the pimp’s death.
Adolfo Amaya Portillo, 27, of Alexandria, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Alexandria.
According to court records, he and two other MS-13 members posed as potential johns and lured the pimp, Claros Luna, and a prostitute to Manor Road in Alexandria in July 2009.
Authorities say the gang members then robbed the two and killed Luna, with Portillo firing two of the three fatal shots, because Luna resisted the gang’s extortion efforts.
Portillo pleaded guilty to using a firearm in a crime of violence resulting in death in April. The other MS-13 members, Eris Ramon Arguera and Alcides Umana, were sentenced earlier this summer.
