All trade deals between the United States and foreign countries are subject to review by President Trump and his administration, the White House said Tuesday.
Press secretary Sean Spicer said Trump isn’t just going to review and possibly renegotiate trade deals with Mexico and Canada or Asian countries that would have been part of the Trans Pacific Partnership. In reality, all trade deals are up for review.

“We’re going to review all the trade deals that are out there,” Spicer said. “The president has made very clear, some of them have occurred a decade, two decades ago. We are looking at all the trade deals we have across the globe to make sure they continue to benefit Americans and American workers. And in many cases we can update these deals.”
Spicer said the goal is to address technological advances that have been made since the trade deals were originally signed and possibly update them for new services that perhaps weren’t contemplated when they were negotiated.
Ultimately, the goal is to make sure the American worker is getting the best deal process.
“This isn’t any one country … he wants to review every trade deal to make sure America and American workers are maintaining the best deal possible,” he said.
