Franklin Graham leaves GOP, cites ‘Nazi concentration camps’

A day after Franklin Graham announced his departure from the Republican Party, the evangelist took to Fox News to explain why is leaving.

“I don’t have an agenda to lead an exodus out of the Republican Party, that’s not my goal,” Graham told On the Record host Greta Van Susteren Wednesday.

His original Facebook post condemned the congressional Republicans and Democrats for approving last week’s 2,000-page omnibus bill that funded Planned Parenthood:

After all of the appalling facts revealed this year about Planned Parenthood, our representatives in Washington had a chance to put a stop to this, but they didn’t … Seeing and hearing Planned Parenthood talk nonchalantly about selling baby parts from aborted fetuses with utter disregard for human life is reminiscent of Joseph Mengele and the Nazi concentration camps! That should’ve been all that was needed to turn off the faucet for their funding.

As a result, Franklin, the son of world-famous evangelist Billy Graham, said he chose to cancel his affiliation with the GOP in preparation for a national tour he will commence Jan. 5.

Next month, Graham will visit all 50 state capitals to hold prayer rallies on the steps of every capitol building. The purpose of the tour is to pray for politicians state by state that will “stand for Biblical values.” The tour will start in Des Moines, Iowa and a full list of cities is available on the rally website.
