Trump invites father of teenage CHOP shooting victim to visit White House ‘when he’s ready’

President Trump said he gave an invite to the father who lost his teenage son in a shooting inside Seattle’s now-dismantled CHOP zone.

Horace Lorenzo Anderson Jr., 19, was killed last month in the Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone, which was a six-block area controlled by Seattle protesters deemed a “police-free” autonomous zone. Trump said on Thursday he talked to his father, Horace Lorenzo Anderson Sr., about the incident and that he’ll be coming down to see him at the White House after he spends some time healing.

“I actually invited them down to the White House at some point when they get adjusted, because it is so tough,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News’s Sean Hannity. “I mean, what he is going through is so tough, and he was treated very badly. They didn’t even tell him what had happened when it had happened. Very sad thing, but I did speak to him, and I had a great but very sad conversation, and so he will be coming down. When he’s ready, he’ll be coming down to the White House.”

The King County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed about two weeks ago that Lorenzo Jr. died from multiple gunshot wounds. Ambulances were unable to make the inside the perimeter of the zone, which was barricaded off from police and emergency personnel. Volunteer medics brought Lorenzo Jr. to the hospital.

Last week, Lorenzo Anderson Sr. revealed that he had “incredibly” received a call from Trump but had yet to hear from Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan.

The CHOP was dismantled earlier this month at the order of Durkan, who, at one point, supported the protest.
